Ms. Freda Shatara
Hello!
My name is Freda Shatara and I am delighted to be joining the Abbot team! I am joining you from the Crestwood School District, where I taught for five years – four years in second grade and this last year accelerated 3rd grade. I have an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan – Dearborn in Elementary Education, focusing in mathematics and early childhood education. I also have a Master’s in Education which I obtained from Wayne State University.
Teaching is truly my passion. I focus on building relationships in the classroom in order to meet the needs of all my students. I also strive to make the classroom a safe place and creating a love for learning. I am an avid reader and have a deep love for mathematics, which comes across in the methods I use to teach content to the learners in my classroom. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time outside, exercising, reading and traveling. I also have a large extended family, who I am very close to and spend time with often.
